| Bloodlines
by Dan Baum
Directed by Mickey Lund
With Carol Cohen, Hallie Garrison, Lisa Gilbert, Edd Miller, and Eric Schaum
When a young college student, Sarah, and her boyfriend come home to celebrate Passover, her identity is called into question as family secrets and long-held grudges are revealed. The absence of her father and the serious illness of her grandmother intensify the unraveling of Sarah's previous sense of self, security, and family harmony.

Director's Notes
I am both honored and privileged to be able to produce and direct this original work by local playwright and 4 Seasons Playwrights Circle founder Dan Baum. Having been raised in a Jewish household and having always questioned what it actually means to be Jewish, from its very inception, this play has always put to words the very things I had always thought as a child and young adult about faith, Judaism, and family. And so, it seemed entirely fitting that, in a season of plays dealing with crisis of faith, Dignity Players tackle the question of what makes a person Jewish and what is or is not right about Israel’s right of return policy.
Bloodlines marks the first of what I hope will become an annual tradition of producing an original play by a local playwright as a special one-weekend summer production. Already in line for July of 2011 is a one-woman show entitled Moving at the Speed of Life by local playwright and actress Kris Valerio. Dignity Players is proud to be the work shopping home for local playwrights like Dan and Kris, and for the 4 Season Playwrights Circle.
The 2011 Season Slate will be officially announced in early August with the opening of our next production, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, but work is already well under way in selecting directors and performance dates. Next year we will present two comedies, one drama, and one musical as our season productions, and Kris Valerio’s one-woman show as our original play special summer production. All the shows next year relate to the theme of Masked. “We all wear masks, and the time comes when we cannot remove them without removing some of our own skin.” -- Andre Berthiaume, novelist (b. 1938) It promises to be a more lighthearted take on the theme and a truly exciting slate for our 7th season here at the UUCA. Look for the season announcement on our website at www.dignityplayers.org in early August or in the playbill of our next production.
We hope to see you back here next month for our production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot and then again in October for our final production of the season, Arthur Miller’s Tony-Award winning play The Crucible. Tickets for both of these shows are now on sale at our website. Don’t miss a single moment of our 6th season!
