UUCA Newsletter Guidelines
The newsletter is a vehicle of our integrated communication system which includes
the Order of Service, Displays, Public Relations and Announcements.
Our goal is to have a newsletter that is easy to read and organized. To do so we have increased the font size and line spacing. We have organized articles into sections:
- 1. Beloved Community: Congregational Meetings, Services,
Celebrations, Words from Fred, Special Church-wide announcements. - 2. Faith Development (spiritual practices and classes)
- 3. Social Justice (Outreach and Social Action)
- 4. Welcoming, Caring and Connecting (Members, Pastoral Care,
Programs that bring people together in small groups, Fellowship) - 5. Resource Stewardship (Financial, Property, Staff)
- 6. Calendar
- 7. Ongoing Events
Deadlines for submissions are the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.
Publication is on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays.
run at most three times. Long articles only once. Flyers converted and integrated
into the newsletter. Late articles may not be printed.
You are probably mumbling at this point. Why can't my article be printed any
which way I want. It is important; more important than anyone else's article.
If I don't tell them everything they won't remember.
Your article should be printed. So should all the others. And they should be read.
Which is why these guidelines are needed, We all contribute to and suffer from Information Overload. Because everyone knows that, we want to make sure our message gets through, so we make it bigger than anyone elses. But chances are
much better that people will read your article if the whole newsletter is shorter and easier to read.
