PathWork Program

Adult Religious Enrichment Programming

Would you like …

… To enjoy a deeper connection to our UUCA community?

… To achieve a better understanding of our Unitarian Universalist experience?

… To reflect our UU principles in your daily life?

For adults who wish an intentional journey toward knowing and understanding our congregation, our faith and our individual roles in the world, UUCA is pleased to offer a series of courses, programs and events known as PathWork. It also seeks to provide a common body of experiences and knowledge within our community. We begin with four core courses under the initial category of “Charting Your Course” . These courses are:

  • The New UU … Introduces newcomers and interested “long-timers” to the theology, history and mission of Unitarian Universalism. Participants also discuss the meaning of membership and opportunities for continuing church involvement. Offered every 4-6 weeks.
  • Evensong … Participants explore individual life journeys through sharing and compassionate listening techniques. Offered every other quarter.
  • Our Unitarian Universalist Story … Participants explore their UU identity through readings, discussions and activities. Offered yearly.
  • Spiritual Practice and UU's … An exploration of the diverse array of activities or attitudes that constitute a UU's spiritual practice. Hands-on learning experiences, utilizing Scott Alexander's Everyday Spiritual Practice . Offered yearly.

The second level of the journey is “Setting Sail” which includes courses that are made for deepening and exploring your spiritual self. Two core courses are:

  • Articulating Your Faith … Barbara Wells & Jaco ten Hove (UUA). Designed to help all UUs speak more effectively about our liberal religion and their particular perspectives on it. 5 sessions.
  • Building Your Own Theology (BYOT) 1 … Richard Gilbert (UUA). BYOT 1 facilitates the writing of personal credos by exploring traditional theological concepts. 10 sessions.
  • Additional Courses … As interests, curriculum and facilitators are available, additional courses will be offered for continued personal growth. Descriptions of currently available classes are available by clicking on “Setting Sail” below
