A report on the issues supported by UULM-MD in the 2006 Maryland General Assembly can be obtained by clicking onto 2006 Report.

Issues for 2006 General Assembly

Healthy Air Act

Our goal this year is to pass the Healthy Air Act, which would regulate four pollutants in coal-fired power plants in Maryland.

Go to the UULM-MD Healthy Air Task Force website for background, other dates, or to join the UULM-MD Task Force.

Civil Rights of Same Sex Couples

In 2006, our focus issue is opposing a Constitutional Amendment that would restrict marriage to heterosexuals only.

Hold Monday, February 13 for activities in Annapolis. Visit the Equality Maryland website for updates on issues and events.

Health Care for All

UULM-MD experienced its first victory when the Fair Share Health Care bill veto was overridden at the beginning of the 2006 General Assembly session!

Visit the Health Care for All website for the latest information on our next steps.

Grant Awarded to UULM-MD

UULM-MD was awarded a grant of $10,000 from the Fund for Unitarian Universalist Social Responsibility! This is great news and means that we will hire an adminstrator/coordinator soon to do things like provide a website, manage members/volunteers, and coordinate actions.

Report from State-Wide Meeting November 19, 2005

We voted on the three issues above to be our issues for the 2006 General Assembly Session.

We directed the current Board of Directors to continue as such with the addition of the 3 task force chairs, and they were charged with drafting the constitution and by-laws to present to the organization in 2006.
